After a fantastic two years at sms I am taking some time off to start my family! My husband and I are are expecting a baby girl in november!

I feel so lucky to have had the chance to work with so many great students and staff! I will definitely miss all of you! I hope you all are enjoying a fantastic summer and I wish you the best of luck next school year and into the future!

Today you get to play some awesome games in the name of science! You can’t beat that!

VISIT http://physicsgames.net/ where you will find 90 different games that all demonstrate physics concepts like newtons laws, forces and more! Some of my favorites are fantastic contraption, bridgecraft, superstacker 2, and zoo transport. Try these or explore others there are tons to check out! You should spend the majority of your time on this website!

If you have any additional time go to http://freerice.com Free rice is a game for a good cause! For each question you get right they donate 10 grains of rice to help end world hunger. you can choose the subject on the top section of tabs. There are science questions on chemistry and anatomy or you can play english, geography, or math!

Impact Crater Lab Conclusions

In your lab conclusion you must summarize what happened in your experiment. You will want to fully discuss and interpret the information. What did you learn? What were your results? Was your hypothesis correct, why or why not? Were there any errors? If there is anything about your experiment that you think could be improved upon, provide suggestions for doing so (even something that is really good can always be improved upon).

You can place this information in a powerpoint presentation to use when you present to the class. Make sure you know who will say each part during your presentation.

If you have finished your powerpoint, rehearsed your presentation and saved the powerpoint to Mrs. Hatfield’s USB drive you can go to the simulations tab on this website to set up a solar system and practice a lunar landing!

After listening to guest speaker Stan Slaughter students groups presented on types of renewable energy and their benefits! I was very impressed by the students presentations! Go barracudas! 1> Today in class students made oobleck, a non-newtonian fluid and polymer! You can make it easily at home, all you need is cornstarch and water. Mix 1 and a 1/2 to 2 cups of cornstarch with a cup of water and you’ve got it! Ask your student how using plastic polymers might improve solar technology in the upcoming future!

2> We will be learning about alternative energy this week in science. Tuesday we will have a guest speaker, Stan Slaughter. Stan teaches creative options for a greener future through songs! It should be a great day and we are excited to welcome Stan to SMS!

3> Friday we will have a quiz over physics 2. It will include Newtons Laws of Motion, Non Newtonian Fluids, 2 main types of energy, 11 forms of energy, and alternative energy sources!

Coaster Creator

today you will be doing the pre-lab for the coaster creator.

1st you will read about energy in systems.

Once you have read through that page you will go to the following link and click the “play now” button. Then click “learn how to craft a super coaster” while you go through this tutorial make sure to fill out your pre-lab paperwork.
